2017年に活動を始めてから精力的/継続的に作品をリリースしていたが、双極性障害との戦いが続き、サンフランシスコ州立大学からも退学してしまいそうというなかで、彼は制作活動に行き詰まっていた。

このレコードを作るにあたり、Maple（楓）と名付けられた雑種犬のおかげで、夏の暑い時期だかに散発的に沸き起こるインスピレーションをかき集めながら、変わり始めた生活の中で再び制作に集中できるようになったのだった。

（過去のアルバムに関して、内容がパーソナルであることを聞かれ）

  -  本当にパーソナルなことを書く。書いたことは全部本音。正直なものを作りたいし、それをみんなにも感じて欲しい。他の誰かになろうとか、別のペルソナを用意するとか、そういうことに興味が持てなくて、ただ自分自身になりたいだけなんだ。
